Changes in 888 Poker’s Mega Deep Event

If you decide to join this big anniversary competition, you have to learn some of the changes that will take place. For instance, 888 Poker is lowering the length of blind levels from 30 to 20 minutes. Moreover, the site will add a second change re-entry. On the other hand, the 300 minutes of later registration and the starting stack worth $15,000 will remain intact.

For this special Mega Deep event, the guaranteed prize money is half-a-million dollars, following the footsteps of the Super XL Series’ guaranteed prize pool. Just last May, the Super XL Series V offered a guaranteed prize money worth $3 million and last September, it even grew to $4 million!

Big Names in Online Poker are Expected to Compete

When Mega Deep was first launched in 1 January 2012, it was intended to be an exclusive tournament for known online poker players. However, due to its increasing popularity, it turned to a weekly event. One of the most notable qualities of this event is the fact that it always attracts some of the great players in online poker. In the past, popular online poker players have won the tournament. These include Felipe "mr.salgado" Salgado, Peter "joeychestnut" Murphy, and Marcelo "CHELitw" Garcia Gonzalez, among others.

Needless to say, 888 Poker is expecting to draw notable players to its special 5th Anniversary Mega Deep event. Even highest earning online poker tournament player Chris Moorman is expected to join. He commented, “With the amazing structure allowing for great flexibility of play, the Mega Deep has always been one of my favourite tournaments of the week. Upping the prize pool to half a million dollars makes this a must-play for any aspiring or professional poker player.”

Mega Deep Qualifying Rounds

The qualifying rounds for the Mega Deep event run from September until the 13th of November. A total of 660 poker players played for the $215 buy-in to gain the opportunity to become the tournament’s ultimate champion. On the last day of the qualifying rounds, “que_te_crio”  won and took home $24,720. Those who qualified for the special anniversary edition of Mega Deep will receive 10,000 chips for their $215 buy-in. As previously mentioned, they will be given the opportunity to make one re-entry so that means they have two chances of winning the guaranteed $500,000 prize.
