What poker is played in casinos?

I'm planning to visit a land-based casino this weekend and play poker. What poker is played in casinos?

Here are some of the types of poker games that are popular in brick-and-mortar casinos:

1. Texas Hold'em

This is the type of poker played in the World Series of Poker. It is also one of the most popular poker variations in the US. With Texas Hold'em, every player is dealt two hole cards or pockets. They have to wait for the dealer to reveal the five community cards.

The betting happens in four rounds. Players will beat once they are dealt with the hole cards and then after the dealer reveals the first three community cards, an event also known as "the flop." The players will bet once again during "the turn" where the dealer reveals the fourth community card. The last time they will place their bets is down at "the river" when the dealer flips the fifth community card.

2. Omaha

Another popular poker variation that is played in casinos is Omaha. It can be played by two to ten players at a time and like Texas Hold'em, players experience four rounds of betting. However, instead of being dealt with two hole cards, every player receives four pockets and the dealer immediately reveals the five community cards. Players must put together the best hand based on their two hole cards and three of the community cards.

3. 7-Card Stud

In this poker variation, every player gets seven cards with three facing down and four facing up. The objective of the players is to come up with the best hand from the seven cards.

4. 5-Card Draw

The dealer gives five cards to each player. However, on the initial go around, every player has the freedom to choose whether they'd trade up to three cards.

There are more poker variations played in casinos, but the aforementioned are the most popular.
