BASE Jumping

What is BASE jumping? This is not a question that is easy to answer, especially if you have never taken part in the sport. However, once you see people get involved, you will realize just how much fun it can be.

BASE stands for Building, Antenna, Span,and Earth. This is an activity in which a person parachutes from a cliff or other type of structure, such as a building.

Awards are given in a variety of categories, including: buildings,antennas, spans, and earth.

BASE jumping is a relatively new sport, with the first jumping record taking place in 1984. Since then, however, more and more people have become involved. The reason is thrill: there are not many sports that provide the same thrill as BASE jumping.

As of late, BASE jumping competitions are popping up allover the world. In fact, there is a yearly contest that occurs in the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
