Cowboy Polo

As you gather more cowboy polo information, you will find that this game is popular in many parts of the United States. First developed in 1952 under the name Palmetto Polo, the game has grown over the past 50+ years.

It was during the 1970’s when cowboy polo began to take off, with clubs formed in Montana and Texas, as well as other parts of the world, such as Australia.

So, what is cowboy polo? Similar in many ways to traditional polo, the game is played by two teams, each one with five players. Using western saddles and other traditional equipment, the teams compete in an enclosed dirt area. A cowboy polo match can take place indoors or outside, with the rules remaining the same.

In a game of cowboy polo, a large medicine ball is used as opposed to the smaller ball associated with regular polo.
